Round Table, Thursday, Nov 2, 2017

For Round Table this week we will have the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts combined. There will be a special presentation from National Subaru Leave No Trace Team. Boy Scout age youth are invited to attend with their leaders.  We need you all there.

Leave No Trace / Outdoor Ethics training presented by the Subaru Travelling Leave no Trace team.  Learn the principles and how to put them in to practice with your family, Pack, Troop and Patrol.

Who should Attend? Everyone

This special Roundtable event is for every registered scouter - Den Leaders, Cubmasters, Troop Leaders, Committee Members, Crew Advisors. All parents interested in learning more. Scouts - Senior Patrol Leaders, Patrol Leaders and especially the Outdoor Ethics Guide!

District Annual Business Meeting, Tues., Nov 7th, 6:30 pm

Charter Organization Representatives and District Committee Members please join us for our annual business meeting at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where we hold Round Table.   We will vote in the new district leadership for the coming year.  2801 Eldorado Parkway, McKinney, TX.

Webelos Adventure Time, Sat., November 11th

On November 11th, Troop 406 invites all Webelos dens to our "Webelos Adventure Time".  We are working out which Adventures we will present but they will be based on your input from Webelos Outdoor Weekend.  The event is located at Erwin Park in McKinney across the street from the Hill Top Pavilion from 9AM until noon.  There is no fee for this event, just bring a water bottle!

Meet The Troops Night, Thursday, December 7th

    All Troops are invited to set up a table on Thursday, December 7th at 7:30PM.  This will be the Boy Scout Round Table for December. Webelos and parents are invited to attend to find out about Troops in the Lone Star District. We will be at the LDS building; 2801 Eldorado Pkwy, McKinney, TX 75070.  Please RSVP to Toni Taylor toni@taylorinet.com. Troops, get with Toni Taylor or Jeremy Gerdes to secure a space to show our cubs what your troop is about! Packs, help us advertise this event so your boys and their families can make plans to attend!  We look forward to seeing you all then!

Award Nominations

    Our annual awards dinner is just around the corner and we need to know who it is that makes your unit and our district SPECIAL!  It is time to nominate the Scouters in our district that do such a great job providing a quality program for the youth in our area.   Nobody knows who does a better job than you.  Please take a moment to nominate them.  The awards 1-5 will be presented at the district dinner on January 13th.   The awards are:

       1 - The Unit Spark Plug Award (Every unit should submit one of these.)
       2 - The Unit or District Scouting Family Award
       3 - The Unit or District Rising Star Award
       4 - The District Silver Star Award
       5 - The District Award of Merit
       6 - The Silver Beaver Award (due before November 20th)

National Youth Leadership Training

After your youth leaders have completed Oak Leaf, the next training step is National Youth Leadership Training. NYLT is an intense, 5 1/2 day, outdoor leadership training experience for Troop, Team, Crew and Ship youth leaders. The course goal is to prepare young men and women to become superior leaders in their local units and in the future.
